They often take the opportunity to flower before the wet season begins. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aboutorchids.com\/identify\/orchids\/cattleya.html\">Cattleyas<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aboutorchids.com\/identify\/orchids\/dendrobium.html\">Dendrobiums<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aboutorchids.com\/identify\/orchids\/oncidium.html\">Oncidiums<\/a>, and others need this <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aboutorchids.com\/care\/details\/dormancy.html\">dormant period<\/a> to bloom.<\/p>\n<p>Even when dormant orchids spring into bloom, resist the urge to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aboutorchids.com\/care\/details\/water.html\">water<\/a> more. Many dormant types, like the examples below from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aboutorchids.com\/blog\/2012\/02\/27\/pacific-orchid-expo-2012\/\">the recent Pacific Orchid Expo<\/a>, only need occasional drinks. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aboutorchids.com\/care\/details\/humidity.html\">High humidity<\/a> will keep the flowers and plants happy.<\/p>\n<p>When spring arrives in your neck of the woods, increase watering and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aboutorchids.com\/care\/details\/fertilizer.html\">fertilizing<\/a> gradually.
