Here are some spooky orchids to haunt you, if you&#8217;re not too scared to go further&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.aboutorchids.com\/blog\/2010\/05\/12\/ghost-orchid-in-an-ice-rink\/\"><strong>Ghost Orchids<\/strong><\/a> <em>(first photo)<\/em> &#8212;<br \/>\nThe famous stars of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/044900371X\/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=9325&amp;creativeASIN=044900371X&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;tag=abouorch-20&amp;linkId=2NZCIWD4VTEF53VI\" target=\"_blank\"><em>The Orchid Thief<\/em><\/a> earn a phantasmic name from their weird white blooms. Since these strange plants are leafless, the flowers seem to emerge from nowhere, and hover in the air like bizarre, ghostly apparitions.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.aboutorchids.com\/blog\/2010\/10\/24\/sinister-draculas\/\"><strong>Dracula Orchids<\/strong><\/a> <em>(second photo)<\/em> &#8212;<br \/>\nThese orchids\u00a0hang upside down like bats, wear <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aboutorchids.com\/blog\/2012\/06\/10\/the-amazing-monkey-orchid\/\">monkey masks<\/a>, and smell like musty fungus. In the photo below, the black flower of Dracula vampira leaves a biting impression.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.aboutorchids.com\/blog\/2013\/11\/26\/brassia\/\"><strong>Spider Orchids<\/strong><\/a> <em>(third photo)<\/em> &#8212;<br \/>\nSpider Orchids, or Brassias, don&#8217;t have eight legs, but their long petals help make them great arachnid mimics. They&#8217;re good enough to convince spider-hunting wasps to attack. Others foul the air with a scent which smells like something you scraped off the bottom of your shoe. They&#8217;re beautiful blooms with foul fragrances.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.aboutorchids.com\/blog\/2009\/05\/12\/laelia-anceps\/\"><strong>Laelia anceps<\/strong><\/a> <em>(sixth photo)<\/em> &#8212;<br \/>\nThis native Mexican species traditionally decorates graves on <a href=\"http:\/\/education.nationalgeographic.com\/education\/media\/dia-de-los-muertos\/?ar_a=1\" target=\"_blank\">the Day of the Dead, or\u00a0<em>Dia de los Muertos<\/em><\/a>.
