The new species is native to New Guinea. Its flowers last only one day, and they smell like coconut.<\/p>\n<p>New orchid species are discovered often, and the discoverer gets naming rights. This isn&#8217;t the first time <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Jane_Goodall\" target=\"_blank\">Dame Goodall<\/a> has been honored with an orchid. In 2004, a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aboutorchids.com\/blog\/2013\/04\/26\/philippine-ground-orchids\/\">Spathoglottis<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aboutorchids.com\/blog\/2011\/05\/04\/hybrid-vigor\/\">hybrid<\/a> was <a href=\"http:\/\/habitatnews.nus.edu.sg\/index.php?entry=\/news\/janegoodall-abstract.txt\" target=\"_blank\">named in her honor<\/a> as <a href=\"http:\/\/www.globalorchids.info\/abc\/soort.php?soortid=2345\" target=\"_blank\">Spathoglottis Jane Goodall<\/a>. She is a leading naturalist, author, and the world&#8217;s top expert on chimpanzees.
