It&#8217;s easy to see how these <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aboutorchids.com\/blog\/2010\/10\/24\/sinister-draculas\/\">Draculas<\/a> have earned the Spanish nicknames <em>orqu\u00eddea mono<\/em> (monkey orchid) and <em>orqu\u00eddea cara de mono<\/em> (monkey face orchid) in their native South American homes. There&#8217;s a monkey face in the middle of each flower. Some you have to stare at for a moment, and others require more imagination. It&#8217;s all a coincidence of their appearance. Its species name means &#8220;like a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lemurworld.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">lemur<\/a>&#8221; due to a resemblance to our primate relatives.
