In the first row of photos, there&#8217;s a mini Sarcochilus <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aboutorchids.com\/blog\/2015\/05\/05\/orchid-hybrid-vigor\/\">hybrid<\/a> with deep red flowers. Hybrids like these have been popular in Australia for years, and lately I&#8217;ve been seeing more of them available in the USA. It&#8217;s less vigorous than <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aboutorchids.com\/blog\/2011\/07\/09\/sarcochilus\/\"><em>Sarcochilus hartmannii<\/em><\/a>, which is in its ancestry. It&#8217;s already been flowering for two months, and more fresh buds continue to open. This species is indigenous to a single valley in Bolivia. It&#8217;s not the showiest <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aboutorchids.com\/blog\/2013\/09\/17\/pleurothallids\/\">pleurothallid<\/a>, but its little flowers have charm. Native to the Andes in Ecuador and Peru, it enjoys <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aboutorchids.com\/care\/details\/temperature.html\">cool temps<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aboutorchids.com\/blog\/2016\/06\/17\/orchids-love-fog\/\">foggy weather<\/a> like the other orchids in this post.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Summer brings plenty of blooms, including these four orchids which live outside in our back garden.
