These orchid exhibits run for months, so you can recharge your botanical batteries through spring.<\/p>\n<p><strong>January 15 &#8211; March 13<\/strong><br \/>\nAs a remedy to Pittsburgh&#8217;s freezing temperatures, Phipps Conservatory invites you to take in their <a href=\"http:\/\/phipps.conservatory.org\/exhibits-and-events\/featured-event.aspx?eventid=451\" target=\"_blank\">Orchid and Tropical Bonsai Show<\/a>. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aboutorchids.com\/identify\/orchids\/phalaenopsis.html\">Phals<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aboutorchids.com\/identify\/orchids\/oncidium.html\">Oncidiums<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aboutorchids.com\/identify\/orchids\/dendrobium.html\">Dendrobiums<\/a>, and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aboutorchids.com\/identify\/orchids\/paphiopedilum.html\">Paphs<\/a> sit among the ferns and palms in the Palm Court and the Sunken Garden.<\/p>\n<p><strong>January 22 &#8211; March 27<\/strong><br \/>\nIn Philadelphia, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.longwoodgardens.org\/orchidextravaganza.html\" target=\"_blank\">the Longwood Gardens Orchid  Extravaganza<\/a> beckons visitors to the warmth of Longwood&#8217;s 4 acre (1.6 hectare) conservatory. Filled with over 4000 orchids, there are <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aboutorchids.com\/identify\/orchids\/phalaenopsis.html\">Phals<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aboutorchids.com\/identify\/orchids\/cattleya.html\">Cattleyas<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aboutorchids.com\/identify\/orchids\/cymbidium.html\">Cymbidiums<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aboutorchids.com\/identify\/orchids\/dendrobium.html\">Dendrobiums<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aboutorchids.com\/identify\/orchids\/oncidium.html\">Oncidiums<\/a>, and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aboutorchids.com\/identify\/orchids\/paphiopedilum.html\">Paphs<\/a> in a variety of displays.<\/p>\n<p><strong>January 29 &#8211; April 24<\/strong><br \/>\nIn Washington DC, the Smithsonian presents <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mnh.si.edu\/exhibits\/orchids\/\" target=\"_blank\">Orchids: A View from the East<\/a>. This exhibit highlights centuries of orchids in Chinese art, culture, and medicine. From ancient Confucian ideals to Taiwan&#8217;s modern horticulture industry, orchids have deep roots in China. The exhibit includes hundreds of orchids and 15 paintings celebrating Chinese <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aboutorchids.com\/identify\/orchids\/cymbidium.html\">Cymbidiums<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>January 29 &#8211; March 27<\/strong><br \/>\nIn St. Louis, Missouri Botanical Garden hosts its <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mobot.org\/events\/orchidshow\/default.asp\" target=\"_blank\">2011 Orchid Show<\/a> with a Mayan theme. Over 800 blooming orchids create a lush, tropical display alongside Mayan headpieces, sculptures, and textiles.<\/p>\n<p><strong>February 5 &#8211; April 10<\/strong><br \/>\nAtlanta Botanical Garden presents <a href=\"http:\/\/www.atlantabotanicalgarden.org\/events-classes\/events\/orchid-daze\" target=\"_blank\">Orchid Daze &#8211; Liquid Landscapes<\/a>. Thousands of orchids grace fascinating water features.
