Then, consider growing conditions which demand additional water:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>When orchids are actively growing, emerging leaves, roots, and flowers need regular hydration.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.aboutorchids.com\/care\/details\/temperature.html\">High temps<\/a>, above 85\u00b0F (29\u00b0C,) dry plants faster. For <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aboutorchids.com\/blog\/category\/cool-growers\/\">cool growers<\/a>, days above 75\u00b0F (24\u00b0C) demand more water.<\/li>\n<li>Plants in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aboutorchids.com\/blog\/2011\/03\/29\/let-the-sunshine-in\/\">full sun or exposed conditions<\/a> can lose moisture rapidly.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.aboutorchids.com\/care\/details\/light.html\">Longer days<\/a> of spring and summer mean that plants are working longer hours to photosynthesize.<\/li>\n<li>Extra water helps orchids to cope with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aboutorchids.com\/care\/details\/humidity.html\">low humidity<\/a>. In hot, arid weather, it&#8217;s good to splash water on leaves and roots.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.aboutorchids.com\/care\/details\/humidity.html\">Orchids need moving air,<\/a> but strong air movement dries plants quickly.
