Hello my phal orchids seem to be happy coming into their 3rd bloom since I’ve owned them; the first even shot up a second spike in its pot (when I bought it it only had one flower spike, now it has two) but my leaves seem so limp ism what could be causing the leaves to be so limp, I don’t overwater or over fertilize..if anyone could help me?? That’d be great, thanks !

Hi Rachel. You’ve ruled out overwatering and overfertilizing. Limp leaves can also be caused by underwatering or low light. I suspect underwatering. When you water, make sure you give the potting media and roots a good soaking. Use enough water so that it runs out the holes at the bottom of the pot. Good luck!

Hello again! I have yet another good question for you, is it ok to let my phals roots that have overgrown the pot touch water? Or would this be considered “standing in water” thanks for your knowledge again 🙂

It is ok to let them touch water, but remember that orchids need their roots to dry out between waterings. If the roots stay wet constantly, they will eventually rot and die. If it’s only the root tips in water, they may be able to stay wet for several days, but don’t let them stand in water for longer than that.
